Kim Smith was born in Concord, NC.  She received Her Bachelor’s degree in British Literature from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1989.

Kim began attending UNCC during her Senior year at Mt. Pleasant High School, where she graduated Valedictorian in 1982. She took a brief sabbatical from her studies to get married, but resumed her academic studies while working full-time at NCNB, now Bank of America, in the Trust Accounting department for 2 years. Prior to graduating on the dean’s list in 1989, she spent 3 years working as a secretary/bookkeeper for William Mills, III, Attorney-at-Law in Concord, NC. After the birth of her son in 1990, she became a stay-at-home Mom until she was invited to teach high school English at her alma mater in 1999. In her capacity as teacher at MPHS, she taught Senior English, Senior Honors English, Junior English, and Freshman Seminar. That year, she was the only first year teacher in the history of Mt. Pleasant High School to ever have the annual dedicated to her by the students.

After teaching at Mt. Pleasant High School, Kim worked in several other interesting fields. Two of the most diverse jobs she’s held were with an auctioneer of estate auctions and with a travel agency. Always eager to learn something new and willing to try her hand at anything, Kim considers her life interesting and fulfilling.

Kim is married to her husband, Jeff and they have two children, a son and a daughter.  In her spare time, she enjoys making jewelry, travelling, and trying new and different restaurants.  She created Living Water Global Initiative in September of 2014 after going on several mission trips and recognizing a need for a reputable organization that served people in places she wanted to go—Eastern Europe, Asia, and India.  Her passion for Living Water keeps her very busy and brings more and more new and interesting people into her life every day.
